How Top YouTubers Think About Getting Views (vs Everyone Else)

I’ve noticed something after years of working with everyone from beginners to multi-million view creators:

The biggest growth leaps often come after they break through a faulty belief.

Mindset sounds fluffy and all but it seriously is a real bottleneck holding you back from more views.

It's not what camera you have, not your editing, not thumbnails, it's none of that - it's the incorrectly held beliefs and it shows up at every stage of growth, from 100 subs to 1 million.

Last week, I soft-launched my group coaching programme and recorded a quick video in the community sharing two of the most common beliefs that hold creators back.

Another belief that I didn't talk about in that loom video is the faulty belief of "I'm Not Ready".

I love this faulty belief because it can easily be overcome with a simple question.

Whenever people say this to me, all I do is ask them back:

“Define ‘ready’ for me. At what objective milestone will you be ready?”

You wouldn’t believe how many smart, capable creators say this to me after getting 10k, 50k, even 100k+ views.

“I’ll start learning this once I have time to implement it.”

They act like “ready” is some objective milestone. It’s not.

So whenever I hear this, I ask:

“Cool. Define it. What does ‘ready’ actually mean for you?”

Is it when you’re uploading weekly?

Okay, define that. For how many weeks in a row? Five? Ten?

Is it when your videos average 10k views?

Okay, what’s your current average? How close are you? And what exactly changes when you hit that number?

Is it when you’ve built a product?

What’s the product? How long will that take? Are you willing to delay your channel’s growth by 6–12 months while you build that behind the scenes?

Let me guess: You haven’t thought that far.

And that’s the trap.

“I’m not ready” is often just a dressed-up version of “I’m afraid to commit.”

Here’s the truth:

You’ll never feel fully ready (just like almost anything in life!).

I’m sure when you started your YouTube channel, you didn’t feel “ready,” but you still started anyway, and now you’re far along the path compared to someone who starts today.

The view count won’t magically make you feel more confident.

The consistency won’t make you feel more capable.

In fact, the longer you wait to get strategic, the more views, growth, and revenue you’re leaving on the table.

You don’t need to be “ready.”

You need to start optimizing what you already have.

You’re ready the moment you stop waiting.
